Hammond Report July 11 2020 From Pandemic Quarantino Jon Hammond - Music and Stories from organist accordionist Jon Hammond, today's story going back to Mikell's nightclub 31 years ago with actual film (Joe Berger manned the PV-430D camera) - my band known then as "Jon Hammond and The Late Rent Session Men" first time playing my composition "Head Phone"
with Chuggy Carter congas & percussion, Bernard Purdie drums, Alex Foster saxophone, Barry Finnerty on guitar (when he still had his 1959 Les Paul) and yours truly Jon Hammond at my 1959 Hammond B3 organ. The story about how I got Studio Instrument Rentals to deliver myself and my B3 + a rented Leslie Speaker, coming up from the Music Building 251 W. 30th Street to Mikell's at 97th and Columbus, we didn't have portable Hammond organs back those days folks!
